ABOUT ME

Step Ahead Counselling - (Online and Telephone Counselling Therapy

Saffron Walden and Beyond)

Johanna Langrish MBACP, MNCS (Accredited)

Welcome to Step Ahead Counselling, my name is Johanna. I understand that seeking support can feel daunting, it was for me too. You may feel anxious/unsure what to expect from counselling/therapy, what you might even say during sessions, or feel unclear about the kind of support you might need or receive. I would like to reassure you that these feelings are quite natural, since my clients often report having felt this way at the beginning too.

What to expect

  • I will provide you with a safe, confidential space, and ensure that I do all that I can to help you feel comfortable
  • You will be met with warmth, compassion, and kindness
  • I will work at your pace, and you will be central to the therapeutic process
  • I will support and help you begin to make sense of the challenges in your life so that you can gain some clarity or a new perspective
  • I will listen without judgment, but with understanding and compassion
  • I will help you to explore your thoughts and feelings, and may gently challenge you, if I feel it will be beneficial to you/the counselling process
  • My aim is to help you to find your voice, explore your problems, challenges and options, so you can find the confidence you need to begin to create more positive changes in your life.

My Journey as a Therapeutic Counsellor

Before my counselling training, my previous career was in Project/Events Management within the Charity/Non-Profit Sector. I worked for many years within a well-known charity, then undertook a similar role within a non-profit international organisation, which champions scientists to make discoveries to benefit humankind.

From early childhood, I had an inbuilt desire to help and support individuals in distress. It was whilst undertaking my own counselling/therapy that I decided to follow my passion to help individuals improve their wellbeing, and to feel more confident about themselves and their lives.

As an adult and a qualified therapeutic counsellor, I feel privileged to be able to support my clients in their healing, self-discovery, and their journey to a more meaningful and fulfilled life.

My practice is based in Saffron Walden, where I provide online, telephone counselling and therapeutic sessions. I have a genuine interest in people and their lives and am passionate about helping them to find their voice, regardless of the method in which they choose to undertake counselling.

I work with a diverse range of people and welcome individuals from all backgrounds, religions, races, ages, genders, and abilities. I respect that we are all individual - with our own set of experiences and viewpoints.
